I’m sure you all remember your moms in the the ’80′s wearing floral print trousers. My mom looked fabulous in them. In the ’90′s I hated all our fashion legacy. Floral prints? How cheesy and kitsch. But you know what? Now 20 years later they are leading the runways and the streets… and I love them! As I always say there is nothing new to fashion, just reinvented, nipped and tucked… As if that’s so wrong!

2012 Spring Fashion Weeks all plunged into a garden of Eden and delivered us explosions of floral prints. Dolce & Gabbana’s show still remains my fave with sexy, floral Sophia Loren’s look-a-likes invading the runway. Salvatore Ferragamo’s floral print silky jumpsuit can turn any fashion ignorant into a real fashionista. And the list goes on with Cavalli, Thakoon, Mary Katranzou, Osman, Isabel Marant, J. Krew or Alaexander Wang. They all go back to sensual femininity. The true style & fashion that was so well mastered by our dearest mothers and grandmothers.

And everyone wants a piece of all this old school glamour and sex appeal that is the new 2012 spring fashion trend. Celebrities and non-VIP’s such as myself relish on the floral print trousers. In converses or heeled Louboutins, with jumpers or blazers they sure make us look so effortlessly cool. A bit like Olivia Palermo & Jessica Alba perhaps, but in high street fashion. Yep ZARA, H&M, Topshop can come quite in handy to us common people… We can’t all  relish on Dolce & Gabbanas now, can we? Well at least not just yet.

This week London streets seemed to have exploded with floral print trousers. They are everywhere. In a million colors & styles.Such a spring cliche, I know… but can’t help myself to love’em.

The Sneakers. A ’90s Inspired Fashion Trend

A while ago I made a post on the ’90s fashion revival, with a bit of insecurity to be honest with you, as I thought I may have not spotted a trend, but more of a fad… Well seems to me the ’90s fashion inspired looks are here to stay. From the High Street to the runways- with the sneakers comeback - we are witnessing a dip in the grunge-cool era of fashion. It’s as if we’re all a bit to tired of the studied, clean, safe looks and just want to feel free, cool, experiment and not give a damn about the rules. Kitsch looks, grunge-sporty outfits and un-styled styles are becoming quite refreshing fashion trends.

Apart from the washed out jeans, the denim jackets, the flannel, the boots - the ’90s revival in 2012 summer seems to be all about being sexy, comfortable & a bit rebellious. The Sneakers are back! From the classic black & white converses to designer ones – the sneakers are cooling down & styling up the feet of celebs & non-VIPs. Christian Louboutin Sneakers & Marc Jacobs 2012 Sneakers Collections are ones of my favourites. Classic ’90s styles mixed with today’s edginess, a punk’ish/sporty vibe, sexy, young and nonchalant. A reinvented original shoe craze! The sneaker invasion has taken over the high street brands, designer shows and collections & celebrities outfits. The streets (a perfect mirror & influence of fashion) are packed with feet dressed up in coloured, patterned, or classic looking sneakers. And the best styling rule… there is no rule. Keep them on while rocking ripped jeans, short denims, leggings, skirts or fancy flirty dresses for a rebel, girly edgy look. 2012 Summer Shoe Trend is all about feeling comfortable and sexy. So once in a while ditch the flip flops, high sexy heels or pumps and go for a tomboy look. 2012 Summer Trend is about being sexy while dressing down & having fun.

Celebrities are spotted everywhere with the funniest & coolest designs. And if you ask me, we could hold Rihanna & Kristen Stewart responsible for the sneaker trend revival. After all it was Kristen Stewart who showed up in the classic black and white sneakers on the red carpet. Anyway… cool or too childish,  the sneakers trend is cool & young. A dip in the ’90s fashion trend in the middle of 2012 Summer!

Here are some of my favourite designs, celebs rocking this trend & some street styles for inspiration.

Shoes! High Heels Or High Heeled Sneakers?

Article by Ghintare S.

When I first saw them I thought these were the ugliest shoes ever…. whether I was getting used to seeing them around every day or just realizing that you do can mix them into different kind of outfits, the point is… I started to kinda like Isabel Marant’s wedge sneakers. Well, now there are a lot of brands which sell sneakers with platforms, but the first one to make them a must-have was the French designer. My question in the beginning was “why do women like these sneakers so much?” and I realized they actually have a lot of reasons: you can wear them all year long (and I’ll show you later some nice outfits for both winter and summer), you can wear sneakers and still do a smart look, if you’re not too tall you’ll love the idea of having in your wardrobe a pair of sport shoes with high heels, if you’re  tall enough – you’re legs will look even more amazing ;) … and now… reasons to dislike them. Actually I can’t think of something really convincing, maybe they are a bit too odd.541190_268142863272456_258661801_n22528_366418050111603_865628453_n197496_362731337146941_1576395107_n407676_375726265847448_2053769963_n

milan-street-Isabel-Marant-sneakers61911_382759565144118_640911176_nAnd now, as promised, here are some outfits which should inspire you how to wear the wedge sneakers… if you haven’t still figured it out. Let’s see the alternatives for the cold season. I would say, you can wear them with almost everything: skirts, trousers, leggings, coats, oversized sweaters. Even if I noticed girls love wearing them with oversized clothes, I prefer seeing them being worn with a fitted coat or a leather jacked, skinny trousers (for a sexy look) and an oversized bag ;) … Let’s say the picture bellow would be my favorite choice for a cold day.tumblr_lusyxg0ryF1qd1swho1_400hm-knitwear-zara-fuchsia~look-main…but as you already know, this season you can’t go wrong with wearing “one size fits all”.is11 (1)isabel marant sneakersisabel-marant-sneakers--the-blonde-salad-9K74

Go out! Buy this year’s most fashionable pair of shoes and think about some crazy nice outfits to wear them with, when winter will finally be over ;) .

Isabel Marant For H&M: Does It Get Any Better?

Isabel-Marant-for-HM (2)Alongside a few other high street brands, I always keep going on about, H&M is one of my all time faves. It’s the 1st shop I ever go into when shopping, or would not feel as if I’ve completed my shopping session unless I’ve strolled around it a bit. I genuinely love their clothes. From sports wear to office attire and all the edgy trendy bits we so love – they’ve got it. I just always thought of their clothes as an eclectic mix that allows me to pick just about anything and roll with it in the most effortless and chic way possible. As a brand that’s got such a huge reputation behind, H&M has always had the designer links up their sleeve and made quite the media splash every time, only to cash in at the end. Both sides actually. Who’s next in line in this H&M links gold mine? It’s none other than Isabel Marant, the French designer that to me just defines chicness. isabel-marant-and-hm-collaborationThe collection will be out this Fall, November 14 and we’ll be shopping Marant X H&M tags on accessories and clothes for both women & men. Yeah you head me gents… she’s taking over menswear too. How cool is that? I must confess I am truly looking forward to it all and expect to see an invasion of French style all over the Swedish brand, I mean you can’t beat a Parisian look and never really can you master it, unless you’re probably born or lived there for a while, so this will be a cool lesson to have and play around with. Though we’ve got no scoop on designs or sketches we do have Isabel Marant’s statement of what it’s all gonna be:

”I am flattered by this collaboration. H&M works with the best designers, and this invitation is an exciting honor. I aim at creating something real – something women want to wear in their everyday lives – with a certain carefree style. I think this is very Parisian: You dress up, but don’t pay too much attention to it, and you still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be combined following one’s own instincts, and my take on fashion is all about personality.

isabel-marant-for-hmExcitement aside, what this news has actually made me realize is that more and more high-end brands are teaming up with high street? WTF? Has the world gone mad? Isn’t it suppose to be the other way around, like usually the big shots call the shots… you know what I mean? Well, truth is these fashion/financial links are hardly a reason to pity any of the sides involved. And as a new of a concept as this may seem… it is not. Over the past years, fashion has started to lose its exclusivity and it does tend to become more and more accessible. People with a love for this world can be part of it in an instant (read Social Media, blogs, free fashion shows etc). All these trigger the hunger for more and more labels, yet the regular blogger, wanna-be-fashion-face might have to starve a year to buy a Versace something. So what we have then, is a smart plan of association that will benefit all sides, and have the huge high-end names cashing in on a market segment that was ignored up to now. Let the fashion games begin! Ka-ching! isabel-marant-designs-for-hm
